Juice groove for the meat juices
A piece of meat that's resting or that you carve releases juices. The juice groove catches them, so they don't run over your worktop. Read more about this board under cutting board with juice groove.
Butcher block for heavy work
For large cuts of meat and chopping, the butcher block is better. It's 6 cm thick and heavy enough to stay put. Read which of the two suits you in Cutting board with juice groove or butcher block?
After raw meat and chicken
Raw meat and chicken can go on a wooden board without any problem. Wash the board straight away with warm water and a little washing-up liquid. Scrub the edges and the juice groove with a brush, dry it off and leave it to dry upright. You'll find it step by step in Cleaning a wooden cutting board after raw meat.
A meat board for the barbecue
On the cutting board with juice groove, you can rest meat from the barbecue and carve it. The juices stay on the board. Don't put cooked meat back on the board where it lay raw, unless you've washed the board in between.

Questions about a cutting board for meat.
Can raw meat go on a wooden cutting board?
Yes. Wash the board straight away afterwards, dry it off and leave it to dry upright. Only cut something you eat raw on it again once it's clean.
Cleaning after raw meat →Is a wooden board hygienic for meat?
A wooden board is no less hygienic than plastic, as long as you wash it straight away and let it dry.
Wood or plastic? →Can I cut meat and chicken on the same cutting board?
Yes, if you wash the board in between. If you often cook with raw meat, a second board is handy: one for meat and one for what you eat raw.
Which board is best for meat?
If you carve meat or let it rest, go for the cutting board with juice groove. For chopping and large cuts, the butcher block is better.
Can the board go in the dishwasher?
No. The heat and being wet for a long time dry out the wood and it can crack. Wash it by hand.
How often do I oil a board for meat?
20 ml twice a month, including in the juice groove. Let the oil soak in for 4 hours. A well-oiled board absorbs less moisture.
