TheWootz was founded by two brothers, Julian and Onno, with a simple annoyance: why is there a boring plastic board on every beautiful countertop?

Not a webshop idea. An annoyance.
Most kitchen boards are mass-produced from inferior wood or plastic. They quickly look worn, splinter when cut, and don't deserve a place on your countertop.
No tricks, no marketing nonsense. Just solid wood, handcrafted, oiled, and done. That's still all we do.
Every shelf gives someone a new start.
The shelves are custom-made by a vocational training center in Friesland. There, people who are distant from the labor market learn a trade. No assembly line, one craftsman per shelf.
Small scratches and variations in the grain are part of its character. Each board is handmade and therefore literally unique. That's not a flaw, that's its story.
